Well, it wouldn’t be a complete launch day for me without a little 5am excitement. I’d patched my SWTOR client last week or so and I thought it was ready to go. This morning when I load it, I am getting the following error (whether I log in or not):
“Unable to receive patch data. Please check network connection”
Aaaaaaa.
Let me repeat: Aaaaaaaaaa!
I did a quick Google search, then a search of Twitter and it seemed like only one other person had the same problem and nobody had a solution. My client is one from the last beta test weekend so according to the Early Game Access FAQ it’s not necessary for me to reinstall, however now that I’m getting this error I suspect the only solution is to uninstall the client and re-download it from the SWTOR site.
I’m probably going to wait a little bit, since luckily I’ve got another machine with an apparently patched copy on it already. Fingers crossed that one works okay when my early access email comes in. And fingers crossed that comes in soon!
Update: I’m IN! It turns out the error I was getting was because of a problem with our network. Once that was fixed, I was able to get in and create characters. I still haven’t received my early game access email, but all I needed was for the PLAY button to light up.
